Marianne, thanks for reading! I love technology, but I've come to find that people really just want to sit down and talk sometimes. It's refreshing and genuine. Thanks again for reading, and be sure to get the RSS feed so you can keep up when I actually get around to writing more!

Thanks again,

Great article Josh, jam packed with concise, solid infomation. I think the piece about consistently promoting yourself was especially important. I find it to be the biggest challenge for creative professionals. I think your suggestion of getting your clients to toot your horn and using twitter and facebook to promote you is spot on. I do find that a lot of creatives tend to hide behind their computer rather than getting out there. Social networking is a great tool for marketing but it is not always the fastest or most efficent. The number one way to get clients is to get in front of as many people as possible and build relationships in person. In the beginning, when us creatives are launching our business, we can get caught up in the details (creating brochures, website etc) and forget to spend time out in the world. Of course the consistent piece is essential too, without follow up all your networking efforts are in vain. I like to compare it to dating. When you see someone across the room that you really like you don't (or I don't recommend) march right over and ask them to marry you. Building business relationships works exactly the same way. It can be very freeing to shift your expectations and stop expecting everyone to buy the first time they meet you. Once you make that shift the "networking" and self-promotion piece becomes much more authentic and enjoyable.

Thanks again for the info.
